“Have To Make The Decision” – Clubs Vice-President Opens Up On Potential Spurs Deal

|

After plenty of speculation across the summer, manager Mauricio Pochettino finally got his man in the shape of Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso, and as Tottenham Hotspur fans will be aware, the deal finally struck was a loan to buy arrangement.

Most thought the deal for the 23-year-old Argentine international was a sensible one in reality as it gave us time to see how he adjusted to the rigours of the Premier League and it’s not unfair to say that the attacking midfielder hasn’t had the best start to life at White Hart Lane.

Having picked up an injury earlier in the campaign, he missed a number of games for Poch – even though he preferred to use him as a substitute – and since the arrival of Jose Mourinho he’s only actually played two minutes (v Bournemouth) and on Wednesday evening he added a few more coming on as a substitute for Moussa Sissoko in the 85th minute.

With many fans thinking that the buy option would be conditional, Real Betis vice-president, Jose Catalan, has confirmed the specifics of the deal to outlet ABC de Sevilla.

“The purchase option can be exercised by this January market. They would have to pay 32million Euros. In June it is mandatory if they get into Champions League and voluntary if not. They will have to make the decision whether they buy it or not.”
